Cat bedding can harbor a lot of pests and other nasty organisms if you do not clean it out regularly, which is why you need to consider the ease of cleaning or washing out the material after a couple of weeks. Again, material that is too soft and delicate may not only break down faster during cleaning but may prove to be a pain in the neck to wash.
Accessible
Younger cats may have no problem with reaching elevated beddings, but older and more delicate cats may not want to go clambering up just to reach their bed. Such materials may not only irritate and displease your cats, but could also end up posing a health hazard for more fragile bones and joints. This is another important factor to consider, especially if you have an older cat you want to pamper.
